Search Me, O God

Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way of everlasting. Psalm 139:23-24

I’ve been absent longer than I’d like. But it’s all been for a good cause. Maybe not in the way of maintaining my followers, but that’s okay. I honestly believe that when we allow God to interrupt our plans and use us that He’ll fully bless us.

Anyway, besides being about God’s business I’ve also been preparing things for submitting my Western Romance to an agent. I’ve updated my other blog, or I should say I’ve been working on updating my other blog. There are still a few things I don’t like. If you’re interested in checking it out you can find it at www.reneelynnscott.com.

You might ask why the pen name. You might automatically assume I’ve got something to hide. No, I don’t have anything to hide. At least not intentionally. And although I might have written things a few years ago which would make some people cringe and throw the gavel at me, I don’t think there is anything over there outside a person trying to find out who she is in God. I’m the real deal. An imperfect person serving a perfect God. Now that that is out-of-the-way. Even though RLS has a special meaning to me, I did toss around the idea of throwing it out. But when it came down to it, and after many prayers, I believe God has set things in motion.

In my journey I’ve tried to find my niche in the writing world. The problem is I love most eras and have a difficult time choosing between them. I’m also not exactly sure what it is God’s will is for my writing. I’ve heard you can either write for the saved or write for the lost but not both at the same time. My instant reaction is bull! But, I do see a point. My desire is that all men should come to the knowledge of God’s grace and mercy. And that happens to encompass people in and out of the church.

My desire is to also glorify God. I firmly believe I can’t do that writing steamy love scenes, which is what the mainstream publishing would expect. Yet, I also know that writing strictly inspirational romances won’t appeal to the lost. Kind of a pickle, huh?

That’s all right, because I know God’s plan is perfect even if I have no idea what that plan might be. So, until I God tells me where it is He wants me to write (Inspirational Romance, Edgy Inspiratioanls or Mainstream) Renee will be the name that I will use to write all eras outside of the Biblical. Christina will be strictly used for Biblicals.

And once I’ve caught up with all my book reviews I will no longer be doing them. Reading books with a critical eye takes away much of the pleasure one should get from the written word. I will, however, be open to being an influencer.

  1. I’m so with you on the “what does God want me to write” journey! God has a perfect plan, we just have to listen intently and follow obediently, despite the naysayers along the way. (I can’t help but think of Nehemiah when I write about naysayers.)

You’ll be in my prayers, and I ask you to pray for me too on this journey.

    • Merrie, I will definitely pray for you. My husband told me the same thing about naysayers about a week ago. Guess I better keep push forward, not that I’ve come across many. I’ve had a wonderful support system among my family and friends.

The one thing that I keep coming back to is that audience of one. Remember, from conference? If my stories introduce one person to God, or helps someone get a little closer to Him then that’s all that matters.
