I did it! I wrote 50,000 words in a month. It’s not the first time and I’m sure it won’t be the last but it is a huge accomplishment. If you don’t think so, you try it and I’m not talking about all those little texts and Ims you send in mass messages to all your peeps. I’m talking about start to finish on a cohesive story.
Okay, well it may not be completely cohesive as there are scenes I’d like to go back and add, and I have to go back and smooth out the character development, add the five senses, action tags etc. But at least I have the bare bones, and I have to say I think I like this story a lot. At first I wasn’t sure if it was going to work, and even clear to the last several thousand words I was wanting to type a former hero’s name down, but now I totally see this hero as an excellent hero, he is just different. Love my heroine though, which is strange because I usually don’t connect with them in the first drafts.
So, what is next? Hmmm, outside of catching up on dishes and laundry, I am not sure. The month of December is ACFW’s Novel Track Editing month, but I don’t think I am ready for that with this story. I think I would like to finish it to the end before editing the first 50,000 pages, which means adding another 100 pages. Some of those, okay a lot of those will need to be added in the first 50k, because like I said, it is just the bare bones. Some places I only have dialogue, no action whatsoever. And I need to do some deeper research so I can bring the ancient Jerusalem and the Judean Desert alive.
How did your NaNoWriMo go for the year 2012?
