6th Day of Christmas~Katy Lee

The Winner of Winnie’s prize is Gail Demaree. Congratulations, Gail. Now, on to Katy’s Christmas memory.

A Season of Giving

IMG_1731_squaredI have a fond Christmas memory of being six years old and waking up in the early morning light before any other of my family members, including my younger brother, Jimmy. I snuck downstairs all alone to find presents surrounding the tree, but right up front were two beautiful Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy dolls. They were the finishing touches to an exquisite and festive tree. And since I was the only little girl in the house, it would stand to reason, they would be for me.

Annie and AndyBut in my little girl mind, I saw a Raggedy Ann for me and Raggedy Andy for Jimmy. I scooped up both dolls and ran back upstairs to wake my brother up. “Jimmy, Jimmy!” I shouted. “There’s a girl for me and a boy for you.”

By this time, the rest of the house was rising. My mom tried to tell me they were both for me, but I wanted Jimmy to have Andy, and that was all there was to it. I still remember the look of pure happiness on his face when I gave it to him, and I know that was the first time I understood Christmas was the season of giving.

Miriam Hunter hoped to shrug off the stigma of her hearing impairment when she returned to Stepping Stones, Maine. But her recurring nightmares dredge up old memories that could prove her innocence—and uncover the truth behind a decades-old murder. Yet Owen’s help may not be enough when someone decides to keep Miriam silenced—permanently.

  1. That was a beautiful story of Holiday giving Katy! I grew up with two older brothers….I’m not so sure I would have made that choice. Hee Hee. Congrats on your success with Warning SIgns. I love your lobster cookie cutter! *Please don’t include me in giveaway. Bless someone else with Katy’s giveaway.

  2. Wonderful story, Katy. It reminded me of my two oldest boys. When it was son #2’s 3rd birthday, he asked for two of something so he could give one to his older brother. Still brings tears to my eyes. I love the thought of your little brother with his Raggedy Andy doll. 🙂
